Stay Connected and Bear Fruit!

Do you know that in order to produce and bear fruit in your life; you must remain connected to a source? What is that source? “Spiritual Growth” is found in Jesus. He is the true source in which your life in God will grow. It is not your job to produce the fruit of his spirit; but we are to choose a life that abides and remains in Him. He is the Vine and Vinedresser. Your fruit begins; by sitting at Jesus’ feet and developing a relationship with him.

John 15:1-8 Passion Translation

Jesus the Living Vine

“I am a true sprouting vine, and the farmer who tends the vine is my

Father.” He cares for the branches connected to me by lifting and propping

up the fruitless branches and pruning every fruitful branch to

yield a greater harvest. The words I have spoken over you have already

cleansed you. So you must remain in life-union with me, for I remain in

life-union with you. For as a branch severed from the vine will not bear

fruit, so your life will be fruitless unless you live your

life intimately joined to mine.

“I am the sprouting vine and you’re my branches. As you live

in union with me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within

you–but when you live separated from me you are powerless. If a person

is separated from me, he is discarded; such branches are gathered

up and thrown into the fire to be burned. But if you live in life-union

with me and if my words live powerfully within you—then you can

ask whatever you desire and it will be done. When your lives bear

abundant fruit, you demonstrate that you are my mature disciples who

glorify my Father!”

As part of the Growth Process; there’s a pruning and a trimming of the branches that can be uncomfortable and painful—but, brings discipline and challenge. The end result of the pruning process is the “sweet fruit” of Christian character. When you focus on Jesus and the Word, and set your thoughts on Him, you become like Him. Your life glorifies God through a pure life and witness.

The purpose for the pruning is to:

  • Stimulate Spiritual Growth
  • Allow the Vinedresser to shape the vine
  • Produce maximum yield without breaking the branches
  • And to produce Christ’s likeness

This pruning needs to take place in life; in order to have a healthy and successful journey. This is how one can bear fruit and remain fruitful—through the constant fellowship with the Lord and the pruning process. Anything that takes up too much of your time or that which may seem fruitless; is purged, removed, or cut off. Therefore, TRUST is a big factor in the process of bearing fruit. Trust the Vinedresser and embrace the transformation so you can be all that God desires.

John 15:6-7- talks about the fruit-bearing results. Jesus says; that without Him we can do nothing. You will not bear fruit, if you don’t abide and stay connected to Him.

Matthew 11:28: Jesus invites you; “Come unto Me…and I will give you rest.”

Psalm 37:7: The psalmist David gives the same thought; “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.”

Isaiah 30:1: Gives the assurance, that “In quietness and confidence, shall be your strength.”

The heart that rests and trusts fully upon Christ will be the most earnest and active in labor for Him! Be encouraged to accept the responsibility to stay spiritually connected and dependent on Christ. Keep an ACTIVE and VITAL relationship with Him, by the evidence of His LOVE in you (John 15:13). Jesus desires that your life produces LASTING FRUIT (John 15:16). I want to encourage you; to continue in the word, keep in communion and relationship with the Lord, and sow the word into fertile ground. Be a sower of the word, be a hearer of the word and be a doer of the word. God’s word will bring “lasting fruit”.

Trust Jesus; to correct any fruitlessness in your life. Trust that He will enhance your growth. His compassions towards you are endless and fail not. God is constantly working with you and in you until the finish. Let His love flourish in your hearts and cause you to be fruitful in every good work!

Love as you have been loved
